DataShield™
is the
FlashScan-RFID
encryption envelope. This software product ensures privacy for library patrons when RFID tags have been implemented.
DataShield™
performs dynamic encryption of the information stored on RFID tags of the circulation materials in the Library.
DataShield™
is included with both the purchase of the
FlashScan-RFID
option and the
FlashScan-StaffStation™
products. However, the Library has control over whether or not to engage
DataShield™.
DataShield™
is also available as a software API (Application Program Interface) for licensing by manufacturers that develop products that read RFID tags.
